To refine a craft, preparation is vital. Actors rehearse for the show, musicians practice for the concert, and athletes train for the race. Sometimes the prep becomes as intense as the actual show. Runners push through aches, pains, fatigue and can be the harshest critic of their performance. When the intensities start to overthrow the confidence we need to persevere, we tell ourselves to, “suck it up, buttercup!” in an effort to push through and overcome the negative voices trying to take over. At least if you have grit you do. If you don’t you’re at risk of being a pansy. Yep, you gotta get grit if you don’t already have it in your toolbox.
Now, understand that you need rest, creative pauses, time to recharge. However, you must not let these things become an excuse to overshadow the brightness you have to shine into this world. We need people that push and fight for a happy life at the very least. If we fight for nothing but a happy life isn’t that everything? Get grit and, yes, suck it up buttercup. ~trvw
