The Sundown Rule is when you try to respond to requests by sundown the same day they are received. Today we have more ways to reply to messages than ever. It’s so aggravating to feel ignored. Doctors offices want us to use patient portals but they’re so overworked that they can’t respond in a timely manner. Partly, I’m empathetic. The other part of me thinks, “figure it out and get back to me!” I put in a call for a consultation and had to leave a message. The message to me was that I would be contacted, “the next day.” That was a week ago. Figure it out!
