It may be true that nobody really cares if you go to the party or not, but you care. Chronic conditions can really give a person FOMO. The want to go but the ability to muster up the energy when you just want to say home is a process. It’s not just going. It’s getting ready, driving, masking, and even sacrificing much needed rest to function the next day. One way to feel more included socially, it helps to have a few one-on-one chats with friends. Even, if it’s a video chat it can really help with much less of an elaborate process to get out the door. People won’t always remember what party you missed but they will remember the time you took to nurture your friendships the best way that you are able. You will feel the connection too and that’s an important part of your self-care routine.
