The idea of bringing the community together for the purpose of all things health and wellness has always been a passion of mine. Last summer, when 88.3 The Wind and 89.1 KWFC were planning out future promotions, we needed to come up with an idea for January that was unique but in line with what is on people’s minds that time of the year. Of course, the popular New Year’s resolutions and weight loss seemed overdone and overwhelming for most people. Why not show them what their options are for creating a healthy life that is best for their unique lifestyle? So we did. With the help of both stations and Springfield FitLife, we filled up the Wesley UMC gymnasium with vendors from around the Ozarks that wanted to showcase their services to our community. There were demonstrations of fitness classes, martial arts, and yoga. Speakers explained how their services can be beneficial to sustaining a better lifestyle and prizes were given away.
Kind words of praise have encouraged the Inside Out Wellness Expo to be considered a success and plans for “next time” are already in the works. The IOW initiative is something that our community is craving. We plan to do our best to satisfy it beyond their expectations. ~trvw
