As a person who can ruminate beyond necessity, the idea of thinking positively might seem like it should come naturally. If the brain chooses to go over and over thoughts then why wouldn’t they all be happy? However, the rumination typically is accompanied by negative or worrisome thoughts. They can escalate into problems that don’t actually pose a threat to our well being. So this is an opportunity to make lemonade!

If we can ruminate over something that is zapping our bliss, then why can’t we do the same for ideas that take us to a place of peace and happiness? This isn’t ignoring reality but actually not creating an unreal misery either. There is truth to, “you are what you think” and we need to be thinking better about ourselves and the people around us. We need a culture of kindness and happiness. We need to perpetuate bliss.

There are several great articles that offer tips on brain training and neuroplasticity that might help you. Psychology Today offers good information in the linked artoc;e as well as several other write-ups on the topic and while there is legitimacy to brain training, beware of exaggerated claims. It’s an interesting subject and worth the time and practice if you feel like you could benefit from a brighter outlook on life. Not only will you begin recognizing a spiral in the wrong direction, you’ll be able to redirect it. If you struggle with doing it for yourself, think of it as a way to pay it forward. Kindness begets kindness. Happiness begets happiness. Your happy thoughts will perpetuate happier thoughts and so on. Vibes are contagious so let’s make them awesome vibes. We all deserve a perpetual fabulous life! ~trvw
