The Jack Frost 5K is a long-time event that supports the Catholic Student Center. It’s a flat, fast, two loop course that is fantastic for all levels of running and walker friendly. Post race snacks and door prize drawings help warm up chilly runners. This year was the second time for the newer course in an effort to get a near perfect distance for the participants. There were icy spots on the roads in a few spots. The two loops make it an easy route to follow and allows for lots of cheering to keep enthusiasm charged toward the finish line. There was some confusion with the results but it’s important to note that many times in spite of the best efforts of the race directors, coordinators, timing systems, and volunteers, hiccups happen. A walker forgets to notify timers they took a wrong turn, etc. and while it can be aggravating a little patience will give the event team time to make it right and from my experience, they will do their absolute best to make that happen so folks can have a wonderful time and come back for more. This is a great race if you worry about staying on course or you need to get out of the house and fight back at the winter blues! Happy running! ~trvw
