Before You Speak

Intention is very important when people speak. Especially when it’s clumsy. That’s why I try to put someone’s good intentions ahead of misdirected words. However, taking a split second to think about what you’re about to say to someone might save hurt feelings. When someone looks at my hands and comments on the joint damage that I am all too well aware of, it doesn’t always land well. I don’t hold it against them because like I said, good intentions are what matter. However, it still stings. To be on the receiving end of pity disguised as sympathy doesn’t feel great. Please think before speaking.
